Durga Idol Vandalized at Ramcharan Dey's Home in Lakshmipur District

On September 20, 2024, a Durga idol was vandalized at the home of Ramcharan Dey in the South Chhangirganj village of Ramganj Upazila, Lakshmipur District, by a group of Islamist assailants. This incident adds to the growing concerns over attacks on minority communities in the region, prompting calls for increased security and protection for vulnerable populations. Local authorities are investigating the incident.

  The Hindu monk and spiritual leader has become the centre of significant controversy in Bangladesh following his arrest. Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari gained recognition for his skills as a child orator.   Fake news spread via Facebook has triggered several communal clashes resulting in deaths in Bangladesh. Bangladesh's post and telecommunication minister told DW Facebook failed to create measures to identify hate speech.         Bangladesh is one of the fastest-growing countries of internet users in Asia, with government data showing more than 50% of its population actively use the medium.
