Minority indigenous girl was gang-raped at Dinajpur in Bangladesh

In Dinajpur's Ghoraghat, a tenth class indigenous student has been accused of gang-raping her by calling her on her mobile phone. Police have arrested the three accused after the schoolgirl's mother filed a case with the police station.

The arrested are Labu Mia, 27, son of late Lal Mia of Baupukur village in Ghoraghat upazila, Ashraful Islam, 35, son of Ahmed Ali of the same village and Omar Farooq, 21, son of Belal Hossain.

According to the case file, Raju, the son of the deceased Churka Hasdar of the same village, fell in love with the 16-year-old tribal schoolgirl. Knowing that the two of them were talking on a mobile phone, a young man named Labu collected the girl's phone number. Later Labu introduces himself as Raju and starts talking to the girl. At one stage, he asked to meet her at Abdur Rahman's Lichubagan next to the schoolgirl's house at around 3 pm last Saturday.

Going to the garden, the student saw another young man instead of her boyfriend Raju, shouted and ran and tried to run home. Later, Omar Farooq and Ashraful, two associates who had already taken position in the garden with Labur, grabbed the schoolgirl and held her face. Later, three girls took turns raping the girl in the same garden and fled.

The girl's mother said that she woke up in the morning and found the girl lying in the litchi garden next to the house. After hearing the whole incident from the girl's face, he took her to the police station and filed a case.
