Fanatic Musilms vandalized the idol of Kali Mandir at Chilmari in Kurigram. The incident took place at Sarkarpara Public Kali Mandir in Mudafat Thana of the Upazila on Wednesday night (March 3). Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rezaul Karim and Superintendent of Police Syeda Jannat Ara visited the spot on Thursday (March 4th) at noon.


Chilmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Raihan Shah said the miscreants opened the door of the temple and broke the arms, chest and head of the idols inside the temple.


According to local sources, they woke up in the morning and came in front of the temple and saw the idols broken.


Shri Karna Roy, president of the Upazila Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Unity Council, said who or what broke the lock of a temple and damaged the idols in the dark of night. I have demanded the police to find the culprits and punish them.


Deputy Commissioner. Rezaul Karim said, "I have visited the spot and action will be taken after investigating the incident."Superintendent of Police Syeda Jannat Ara assured the people of Muslim and Hindu communities to remain calm and take action against the culprits.
