7 HIndu temples looted in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh

Brass idol, plates and money from the donation box were stolen from the temples

Seven temples were looted in the Bhimshi and Bhunabir villages of the Bhunabir union in the Sreemangal upazila early Tuesday.

Locals and police sources said the temple of Shib residence and Uttam Misra's residence in the Bhimshi village were two of the places that were looted. Other temples which were stolen from, includes Gouri Akhra temple, Madan Mohan temple, and Sharbojonin Durga Mondir.

Sreemangal police station Inspector Md Sohel Rana said: "We are primarily suspecting these are the work of thieves, but it was not any incident of vandalization. Superintendent of Police Md Faruk Ahmed (PPM) in Moulvibazar visited the place after the incident.

Brass idol, plates and money from the donation box were stolen from the temples. General Secretary Subir Das of Kripamoie Juba Shangha, said: "People incurred losses of lakhs of taka, but the wound religious minority has suffered due to the vandalization is incalculable. We demand proper investigation and necessary punishment to the miscreants involved."
